Abstract Horizon
Kadampa Study Programs

Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso has designed three study programs of Buddhist teachings. These programs – the General, Foundation and Teacher Training Programs – form the very core of the New Kadampa Traditon International Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU), and are what distinguishes the New Kadampa Tradition from other traditions.

After attending our General Program meditation classes (Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, Friday afternoons and our branch classes) for some time, you may wish to go deeper in your practice and study of Kadampa Buddhism.

General Program (GP) classes are drop-in by nature. These classes are suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike, and are designed to help those looking for Buddhist wisdom to help with stress relief and relaxation, as well as those interested in exploring the nature of the mind, and pursuing the Buddhist path.

The Foundation Program (FP) is designed for students who have gained a basic understanding of Kadampa Buddhist practice and are interested in pursuing a formalized and committed study program. FP is a practical method to improve our good heart, wisdom, and inner peace within a supportive community of fellow students

The Teacher Training Program (TTP) is designed for people who wish to train as authentic Dharma Teachers or simply engage with Buddha's teachings more deeply. Students must have received Highest Yoga Tantra empowerments within the New Kadampa Tradition in order to study most of the books in this program and  to complete a number of meditation retreats.

TTP is currently not offered at KMC NC. But it will be offered again in the future.
