“If you realize your own mind you will become a Buddha; you should not seek Buddhahood elsewhere.” - Buddha

There is a traditional Mahamudra meditation on the clarity of the mind which is very powerful for understanding our mind through our own experience. This meditation can be practiced by anyone, regardless of previous experience. If we’re new, we can start to understand how our mind is shaping everything we see and think about. If we already have a daily meditation practice, adding this meditation even as little as five minutes each day can inform and add context to all our other meditations.

Doing meditation like this in retreat is very special. In retreat, we can immerse ourselves more fully in a meditative environment, making it easier to develop the concentration that leads to progress. In retreat, we have fewer distractions, and if we’re new to meditation can use what we learn to kick start a daily practice. If we include short or longer retreats from time to time, we can see more results from weekly classes and daily meditations at home.

In this retreat, Gen Norbu will introduce and guide the basic Mahamudra meditation on the clarity of the mind. Each session will gradually build on a simple foundation, giving us the key aspects for putting together a comprehensive approach to this enriching and transformational practice.
