About the event

“In general, ‘Buddha’ means ‘Awakened One,’ someone who has awakened from the sleep of ignorance and sees things as they really are.” - Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Introduction to Buddhism

There are many things we can learn from the life of Buddha. He was a teacher, and many of his teachings were given through his example. Although the details of our lives are different, there are similarities and metaphors that can inspire and guide us in our own spiritual life. In this special social event, Gen Norbu, will introduce Buddha’s life story, bringing out several details that are especially powerful to understand and meditate on.

Following this, there will be a vegetarian potluck dinner, and we will watch a movie based on the play The Life of Buddha which was performed live at the International Kadampa Summer Festival in England in the early 2000’s.
