About the event
“Just as I wish to be free from suffering and experience only happiness, so do all other beings. In this respect, I am no different from any other being; we are all equal.” - Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, The New Meditation Handbook
We all want to be happy, but our feelings toward others are normally unbalanced. When we see a friend or someone we find particularly attractive, we feel pleased; when we see an enemy or an unattractive person, we feel dislike for him or her; and when we see a stranger or someone we find neither attractive nor unattractive, we feel indifference. As long as we have these unbalanced attitudes, our mind will be like a rocky field that cannot support the growth of sustainable happiness. Our first task, therefore, is to free our mind from these unbalanced attitudes, which are the main obstacle to developing sustainable happiness.
In these classes, Cate will introduce the basic loving kindness meditations for developing sustainable happiness by freeing our mind from unbalanced attitudes.
