An empowerment is a very special blessing ceremony that functions to heal our mental continuum and awaken our Buddha nature. Each empowerment introduces us to a particular enlightened Deity, their meditations and mantras. The particular enlightened Deity to which we will be introduced in this empowerment is Vajrasattva. Vajrasattva is the Buddha of purification. Since purification is the root of future happiness and spiritual realizations, we should strive to cleanse our mind of delusions and negative karma by practicing the meditation and recitation of Vajrasattva.
Any living being, even a worm or an insect, can commit negative actions; but only humans have the fortune to be able to purify them. We have been accumulating non-virtuous actions and experiencing their suffering results since beginningless time; but now we have an opportunity to purify them completely. We should make use of this precious opportunity to purify our negative karma, not to create more! The meditation and recitation of Vajrasattva is a very powerful method of purification.

About the Teachers
Gen Kelsang Norbu first received Vajrasattva empowerment in 2007. Since then, Gen Norbu has engaged in many retreats on Vajrasattva, and has granted this empowerment several times before.
Gen Norbu was ordained as a monk in the New Kadampa Tradition of Buddhism in 2006, by Ven. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. He earned the title ‘Gen’ in 2012, indicating that he is a senior ordained teacher in this tradition.
Gen Dechok is a Kadampa Buddhist nun and the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center Georgia. She has been studying and practicing Kadampa Buddhism for more than 20 years under the guidance of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. During this time, she has worked in many roles within the organization including administration, artwork and Director of Tharpa Publications US. She enjoys sharing her experience and understanding of Modern Buddhism so that others can also reap benefit from Buddha’s teachings.
