Introduction to Buddhist Meditation Retreat
Manifesting Enlightenment: A Statue Filling Workshop
December 13 - 15 (see schedule below)
at Kadampa Meditation Center North Carolina
(528 East Blvd. Charlotte)
$100
“Buddha statues and stupas should be filled before being used as holy objects for worship. Filling statues is a very beautiful thing to do. It is said that by filling statues we create the cause to become ‘filled’ with realizations ourselves, but it is very important to fill statues correctly. If we fill a statue correctly we accumulate merit for as long as the statue exists.” - Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
Statues of Buddhas are a source of profound blessings for the people of this world. When people simply look at a statue, Buddha will bless their minds and sow the seeds of virtue and future happiness. It is said that just seeing an image of a Buddha places in our mind a potential or mental imprint that is a cause of enlightenment.
In this hands-on workshop, we will learn the ancient art of Buddhist statue filling – how to clean Buddha statues and fill them correctly, as well as how to create mantra rolls (holy prayers rolled around incense, which go inside the statues).
During the introduction the entire process of statue filling will be explained, and the remaining sessions will consist of the practical application of the process.
If you have a Buddha statue to fill, please bring it, but having one to attend the workshop is not necessary. Everyone is welcome.
Any questions, please contact us at ad@meditationcharlotte.org
Each participant may bring their own statue(s) to fill, up to 13 inches. Any statues bigger than this will need to be approved in advance.
